Maurice Classen advises governments, businesses and nonprofits on transforming operations in complex environments, and is a senior advisor at Arena Advisory Group. A licensed attorney, he has spent two decades working in public safety, policing, government technology and crisis management.
Before launching his advisory practice, Maurice served as chief operating officer at Zencity Technologies, where he oversaw the doubling of annual recurring revenue and led the company’s Series C raise. Earlier, he spent over two years as chief of staff to Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, with principal responsibility for day-to-day city operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He previously served as director of strategy at the Chicago Police Department and spent five years at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
Maurice holds a B.S. in International Politics from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.
